Project strategy puts the stress on the following objectives:
• improve education for sustainable development and raise public awareness on the functioning and values of wetland ecosystems in relation to economic and social issues;
• motivate relevant stakeholders and local community to be involved in decision-making and management of wetland to ensure sustainable use of nature resources;
• develop competence of staff of the strict nature reserves to meet requirements of integrated management measures for conservation of wetland biological diversity.

Aiming at reaching these objectives project organized numerous trainings, public awareness campaigns. Some of them are mentioned bellow in relation to the target project area.

Common activities
Common activities are those targeting at wider auditorium than one project site. Majority of these activities could be grouped in 2 groups:
General project information and promotion activities. Those cover project meetings, general information and promotion material, this project website etc.
Project areas staff trainings. A number of seminars/trainings targeting at specific issues were organized. Two main directions could be separated. First one - restoration, management and monitoring of wetlands. Second one - public relations, information and education.

Čepkeliai state strict nature reserve
2004, July. Center for environmental education was opened in Darželiai village. Center is operated by directorate of Dzūkija national park and aims at youth education as well as center for exchange of scientific environmental information.
2006, June. Čepkeliai reserve website www.cepkeliai.lt started operating.
2006, December. Čepkeliai reserve Visitor Center and nature trail adapted for disabled was opened.

Girutiškis strict nature reserve in Labanoras regional park

2007 Labanoras regional park website www.labanoroparkas.lt  started operating
The drawings of the Labanoras nature path are prepared in the mid 2007.

Kamanos state strict nature reserve
2006, March. Kamanos reserve website www.kamanos.lt  started operating
Reconstruction of the Kamanos reserve administration building was carried out and Visitor Center with exhibition, video-hall and lecture class shall be oppened for the touristic season of 2008.

Viešvilė state strict nature reserve
2004, May – 2005, May. Training campaign for forest managers (national and local levels) on determination of high biodiversity value forest, inventory of woodland key-habitats, inventory data analysis and decision making in forest management planning.

2004, Dec. – 2005, May. Several seminars were organized for local community on cranberry farming. Methodological material was prepared and distributed.

2006, March. Viesvilė reserve website www.viesvile.lt started operating 

Žuvintas biosphere reserve
2005, December. Žuvintas reserve website www.zuvintas.lt  started operating
2006, February. Reconstruction project prepared for Žuvintas administration building/ Visitor Centre
2006, March. Tourism guide to Meteliai regional park and Žuvintas biosphere reserve was published
2006, April. Technical project for educational Žuvintas nature trail adapted for disabled was prepared.
2006, October. Būkta forest nature trail was opened in Žuvintas biosphere reserve

 
2006, Jan. – March. Education and training campaign on sustainable farming for farmers of Dovinė river basin.
2006, October. Activity/lesson pack for the educational Zuvintas nature trail was prepared and presented for local teachers.
2006, December. Information/education campaign on sustainable farming for farmers of the Dovinė River basin was started.

2007, March. Zuvintas nature trail was built.

2008. Žuvintas biosphere reserve visitor centre was reconstructed
